Windows 95/98 users should use the Windows Update facility and Attune to keep their systems up to date and safe. These services are free.

Is JavaScript Supported?
If your browser doesn't support JavaScript or you have a very old version, you should consider upgrading to a recent version. We need at least Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3 or Netscape Navigator version 3, running at least JavaScript version 1.1.

America Online

Internet Explorer

Netscape Navigator

Opera Browser

If your browser supports JavaScript, you can activate it. Note that some people (and some business offices) do not allow JavaScript for security reasons. In my opinion, JavaScript is perfectly safe, whereas Java programs and ActiveX controls present risks.

In AOL,
  1.   check the America Online documentation.

In Microsoft Explorer,
  1.   check the Microsoft documentation.

In Netscape Navigator,
  1.   click on Options in the top menu line,
  2.   select Network preferences... and
  3.   click on the Languages tab.
  4.   Click on Enable JavaScript to put an X in the box
  5.   and click on the OK button.

In Opera,
  1.   click on Preferences in the top menu line,
  2.   select Multimedia...,
  3.   click on Enable Scripting Languages to put an X in the box
  4.   click on Allow Window Create to put an X in the box
  5.   and click on the OK button.

Just Doesn't Look Right
Try the RELOAD button. These pages are complex and the browser sometimes chokes. You might also want to resize the window to full screen. If this doesn't fix it, well, read on ... one of the following may help.

Another Page Pops Up
Try the BACK button. Some of the newer browsers have a bad habit of randomly clicking a link on the page. This is a very annoying feature of high technology.

Date Is Wrong
The web page computes its dates based on the date set in your computer. If your computer has the wrong date, please change it.

Just Doesn't Work
Maybe patience is needed. The page takes at least a minute to process and may take much longer depending on your Internet connection.

You might be able to fix the problem by clearing both the memory cache and the disk cache. Best to exit the browser, then restart it. Before going anywhere, clear the caches.

In AOL,
  1.   Select Members -> Preferences -> Web.
  2.   Click the Empty Cache button.
  3.   Click OK.

In Microsoft Explorer,
  1.   Drag View menu to Internet Options (last choice).
  2.   In the second section of the window that pops up (window is titled "Internet Options", second section is "Temporary Internet Files") click the Delete Files button.
  3.   Click OK in the window that then pops up (titled "Delete Files").

In Netscape Navigator,
  1.   click on Options in the top menu line,
  2.   select Network preferences... and
  3.   click on the Cache tab.
  4.   Now, click on Clear Memory Cache Now button
  5.   and click on the OK button in the pop-up window.
  6.   Now, click on Clear Disk Cache Now button
  7.   and click on the OK button in the pop-up window.
  8.   Finally click on the OK button.
  9.   Your system may seem to hang for a minute, be patient.

In Opera,
  1.   click on Preferences in the top menu line,
  2.   select Cache...,
  3.   click on the Empty now button
  4.   and click on the OK button.

Can't Print The Web Page
If your browser won't print the Web page, chances are there isn't enough memory available. Netscape needs a lot of memory. If you shut down other programs, you can usually then print. Sometimes you must also clear the caches (see above). And, sometimes you have to shut down your computer and start over. I've always been able to print sooner or later.

If you just want to save the page for future viewing or to email to a friend, try JFAX. Download and run the JFAX.COM Print Driver from JFAX.COM You can then print to JFAX SEND from the file menu.
